In Jesus' Name

DAY 7 OF 7

The Future in Jesus' Name

Most books of the Bible finish with a clear ending. Genesis concludes with the death of Joseph, and Deuteronomy with the death of Moses. In Matthew, it’s the Great Commission; in Ephesians, a benediction; and in Revelation, it’s the word “amen”. But Acts?

It just stops.

We read that for two years, Paul stayed in a rented house, boldly teaching people about Jesus. And that’s it. What happens next? Luke doesn’t say.

What Acts 28 doesn’t say actually says something. The story never really finishes, and there’s a reason. In a sense, it’s still being written.

Today, we finish our journey through Acts by going back to the start, finding out why the story continues with us.

Just before He ascended, Jesus made five things clear to His disciples—truths that still apply to us today as we continue His mission.

First, the Kingdom of God is the priority. Even after His resurrection, Jesus continues teaching about God’s Kingdom. The future isn’t about our plans, it’s about His. Seek His Kingdom first.

Second, the Holy Spirit is with us. Jesus promises that they will not be left alone. The same is true for us. We don’t face the future in our own strength. Every step is with the Holy Spirit.

Third, we are living in the “in-between”. Jesus has come, and He will come again. But right now, we live in the tension of a broken world—yet the Kingdom of heaven is at hand. It’s a season that can feel uncertain, but it’s not without purpose. God has placed us at this time in history for a reason.

Fourth, we are His witnesses. Jesus says, “You will receive power… and you will be my witnesses.” Our future is not passive—it’s participatory. We are part of His ongoing story. How? By witnessing to what He’s done.

Finally, we have been given a mission. As Jesus ascends, the angels ask, “Why are you standing here staring into heaven?” It’s a reminder: don’t just wait. Go!

The future in Jesus’ name is not about having all the answers. It’s about trusting the One who does. It’s about prioritising His Kingdom, relying on His Spirit, embracing the season you’re in, and stepping into the mission He’s given you.

One day, Jesus will return. Until then, this story is to be continued.

And we get to live it!

Let’s Pray
Lord, thank you for the great privilege of being part of Your story. Help me to trust You, to put Your Kingdom first, and in Jesus’ name to live out the purpose that You have for me. Amen.

About this Plan

In Jesus' Name

The book of Acts isn't just church history, it's an invitation. It tells the incredible story of what happened when Jesus’ followers lived in His name and by His Spirit after He returned to the Father. But it’s not just their story, it’s ours too. We get to continue what they started! When we surrender our lives to Jesus like those early disciples did, things begin to change. Join us as we explore power, miracles, boldness, salvation, freedom, perseverance, and the future in Jesus’ name through the book of Acts.
