DAY 2 OF 20

Day 2: The Storage Problem

Scripture: Luke 6:45 (NIV)

“A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”

Jesus compares the heart to a storage container. Whatever you’ve been filling it with is what eventually comes out. Not sometimes. Always. Your mouth speaks what your heart is full of.

That’s a confronting idea. It means the harsh thing you said to your sibling wasn’t just a bad moment. It was overflow. The jealousy you felt scrolling someone’s page wasn’t random. It was stored up. The anxiety that hits every night didn’t appear from thin air. Something’s been feeding it.

Your heart works a lot like your algorithm. It adjusts to what you engage with. The more you watch, like, and linger on certain content, the more it feeds you. Eventually, it starts to reflect back exactly what you’ve been giving it.

This isn’t about labeling all social media as evil. Some of it encourages you. Some of it connects you to people who matter. But some of it is quietly filling your heart with comparison, insecurity, anger, or noise you didn’t sign up for.

Jesus is inviting you to become aware of what you’re storing. Not so you feel guilty, but so you can be intentional. Because what you consume is forming you, whether you realize it or not.

Reflect: What’s been “on repeat” in your heart lately? Anxiety? Comparison? Anger? Peace? Where do you think it’s coming from?

Today: Check your screen time right now. Look at your top three apps. Ask yourself honestly: is what I’m consuming helping me become who I want to be?
