DAY 4 OF 20

Day 4: You Become What You Consume

Scripture: Proverbs 4:23 (NIV)

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

Solomon doesn’t say “among other things, guard your heart.” He says “above all else.” That means this is the most important assignment you have. Because everything you do, your decisions, your relationships, your words, your habits, flows from whatever is happening in your heart.

Guarding your heart doesn’t mean building walls so nothing gets in. It means being intentional about what does. It means paying attention to how certain content makes you feel, how certain conversations shift your mood, how certain environments pull you toward or away from who you want to be.

We guard our phones with passwords and our homes with locks, but we leave our hearts wide open to whatever the algorithm serves up next. And then we’re confused when anxiety, insecurity, or bitterness starts leaking into how we treat people.

This isn’t about becoming legalistic with your screen time. It’s about becoming aware. You already know which accounts make you feel less than. You already know which content pulls your mind to places it shouldn’t go. You already know what feeds the worst version of you.

Guarding your heart means being honest about that and making choices that reflect what you actually want growing inside you.

Reflect: If you’re honest, what’s one thing you regularly consume that you know isn’t helping you become who God made you to be?

Today: Unfollow one account today that consistently pulls your heart in the wrong direction. Replace it by following one account that points you toward truth.
