Stepping Into the Future

DAY 9 OF 9

Over the past few days, we have considered the following ideas as we think about stepping into our future:

God has promised that he will never forsake you or abandon you.

  • Choosing to step into the future with God is choosing a lifestyle of promise with your back turned to your past and your gaze fixed firmly on Christ who walks with you!

Courage is living a life shaped by obedience to God.

  • Stepping into the future is an invitation to continued reliance and obedience to God in your new future. There is no place for you to rest on your own abilities, your own wealth, your own success, or on other people in your future.
  • God is inviting you today to live with his power, his love, and self-control!
  • God is inviting you today to live with the confidence that He will fulfill his promises to you in his time, which is the best time!

You are a new creature in Christ!

  • All of your sins, all of your shortcomings were nailed to the cross! All the things people have teased you about, or belittled you, and all the times you have been passed by have been nailed to the cross!
  • As you step into the future, you can trust the Lord for forgiveness, for instruction, and strength!

Be strong and Courageous.

  • Live with God’s power, God’s love, and God’s self-control.
  • Your future is safe in God’s hands! God will never forsake you or abandon you as you dwell in the shelter of the Most High.

God has the power to do what he has promised (Romans 4:21)

  • You are God’s son or daughter!
  • No matter what challenges you face today or tomorrow, in faith, trust that God will help you overcome them. This is the kind of faith that pleases God (Hebrews 11:6)
  • Move forward with humble prayers of intercession on your lips for your coworkers, customers, and your company’s leadership. They too need God’s mercy.

Remember God’s goodness and provisions.

  • With a grateful heart, give thanks to God for his faithfulness in the past.
  • With a grateful heart, give thanks to God, who is more than capable of bringing you through whatever your future holds.

The Commander of the Lord’s Army goes with you.

  • There is a rock higher than you. Your shoulders, however broad, do not need to bear alone the burden of responsibility for the future of your family, your work, your organization, or your church.
  • God is the Captain, the Commander in Chief, and He invites you to follow him one day at a time into your future in a posture of worship.
  • How can you move into your future with a posture of worship so that God is glorified?

Avoid Temptation

  • Sin, no matter how small, destroys the hope, joy, and peace of those around you.
  • When you make choices for your life that are within the constraints God has decreed, rather than confining you, you are set free to be the person God created you to be and to do what God created you to do.
  • As we step into the future, each of us will fall into temptation. When that happens, Jesus is waiting with arms wide open to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. When you fall into temptation, run to Jesus as quickly as you can, and embrace his forgiveness.

As you step into the future, choose this day whom you will serve! Will you serve the Lord or the gods of the place where you work?

If you choose to serve the Lord – the Commander of the Lord’s army, then Jesus invites you to …

Be strong and courageous!

Be strong and courageous!

Be strong and courageous!

Be strong and courageous!

Prayer: As you step into your future, may you go with peace and joy, resting in the knowledge that God goes before you, goes behind you, and goes with you. May God use you as a messenger of hope to each person you interact with. Step forward boldly and faithfully with your eyes focused on the author and perfector of our faith! Amen.
