When God Breaks ThroughSample

Day 1: God Breaks Through Opposition
There is so much one can say about David. In 2 Samuel 5, we see all Israel anoint him as king. He was not self-appointed. He was chosen by God and, in God’s timing, established before the people. What God had spoken over David was now being confirmed in public.
David then conquered Jerusalem from the Jebusites and made it the City of David. The Jebusites mocked him, thinking they were untouchable. But they soon found out that they were not merely coming against David and his men. They were standing against the purposes of the living God. Scripture says David became increasingly powerful because the Lord God Almighty was with him (v. 10). God was with him. That changed everything.
Then David faced the Philistines. They came against him twice, and both times David inquired of the Lord for wisdom, confirmation, and strategy. He did not move carelessly. He sought God.
At Baal Perazim, the Philistines were defeated. David said, “As waters break out, the Lord has broken out against my enemies before me” (v. 20). God broke through David’s opposition with sudden, overwhelming power. He did what David could not do on his own. He gave him victory. In Hebrew, Baal Perazim points to the Lord as the One who breaks through.
Reflection:
In your current situation, are you seeking God’s counsel and waiting for His direction before making moves? Or are you paralyzed by fear because of what appears to be impossible? Bring it to God, for the One who gave David victory is still able to break through opposition in His way and in His time.

About this Plan

If you think God breaking through is about favoritism, perfection, background, or status, think again. His intervention is not reserved for the most qualified or gifted. He shows up because He can, because He wills, and because it is in His character. It is who He is. This 7-day Plan walks you through the stories of real people facing real situations and shows you the same God showing up in every one of them. Again and again, Scripture reminds us: He is still the God who breaks through.
