When God Breaks Through

DAY 2 OF 7

Day 2 — God Breaks Through Praise

Jehoshaphat is a character we hardly talk about. But his life and heart for God have marked history. When we read about him in 2 Chronicles, we see a man who loves the law of the Lord. He set up leaders to lead righteously and administer proper justice. He tore down false idols and sought to have the people’s hearts turned back to the Lord. Along the way, he made mistakes, yet God showed him mercy.

Now in chapter 20, he is facing strong opposition. A vast army was coming against Judah. Jehoshaphat was overwhelmed and afraid, so he proclaimed a fast so that the people would seek the Lord.

In his prayer, he said, “We have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You” (v. 12, NIV).

That is the moment.
No plan. No strength. Just dependence.

God answered through Jahaziel, telling them not to be afraid. The battle was not theirs, but His.

The next morning, Jehoshaphat did something remarkable. He did not send the strongest men to lead the army. Instead, he appointed singers to go before them.

Before victory, there was praise.

As they went out, they began to worship. And as they lifted their voices, the Lord set an ambush against their enemies. The armies turned on each other and destroyed themselves.

When Judah looked out, all they saw were dead bodies.

In this impossible situation, they did not have to lift a single sword. As they lifted their voices in praise, the Lord Himself fought for them.

Praise was not their reaction.
It was their posture.

And God broke through.

Reflection:

When you feel overwhelmed, will you lift your voice? When you do not know what to do, will you fix your eyes on Him and trust?

About this Plan

When God Breaks Through

If you think God breaking through is about favoritism, perfection, background, or status, think again. His intervention is not reserved for the most qualified or gifted. He shows up because He can, because He wills, and because it is in His character. It is who He is. This 7-day Plan walks you through the stories of real people facing real situations and shows you the same God showing up in every one of them. Again and again, Scripture reminds us: He is still the God who breaks through.
