When God Breaks ThroughSample

Day 7 — God Breaks Through When Time Runs Out
Have you ever had a day where you wished time would just stop because you needed more of it to finish something important? Here is the story of a man who asked God to stop the sun, and God answered.
Joshua, the son of Nun, was Moses’ aide and the man chosen by God to lead Israel into the land He had promised. The Lord continually reminded him to be strong and courageous, for He was with him. In Joshua 10, several kings joined forces to attack Gibeon. The Gibeonites cried out to Joshua for help, and he responded immediately, marching out with his entire army, including his best fighting men.
The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you” (v. 8 NIV).
Pause.
Can you picture this? On your way to battle, and the Lord Almighty is telling you that victory is already yours. Joshua was no stranger to God’s power. He had seen too much to doubt Him.
Scripture tells us that the Lord threw the enemy into confusion, and Joshua and his army defeated them. Then Joshua did something bold. In the presence of Israel, he spoke to the Lord and said, “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon” (v. 12 NIV). And it happened. The sun stood still, and the moon stopped until the nation took vengeance on its enemies.
There has been no day like it before or since.
God broke through and did what no one had ever seen.
God is not limited by the things that limit us. When time seemed to stand in the way, He moved.
Reflection:
If God can cause the sun and moon to stand still, what makes you think He cannot move in your situation? If He gave His Son for you, what could stop Him from acting on your behalf?

About this Plan

If you think God breaking through is about favoritism, perfection, background, or status, think again. His intervention is not reserved for the most qualified or gifted. He shows up because He can, because He wills, and because it is in His character. It is who He is. This 7-day Plan walks you through the stories of real people facing real situations and shows you the same God showing up in every one of them. Again and again, Scripture reminds us: He is still the God who breaks through.
