Day 4 - Relationship with God

Building a relationship with God is simple—it works just like the close bonds we share with our own family.

Think of a father who acts as a protector, driver, and provider for his son; he loves helping, but he would be heartbroken if his son only saw him as a service provider rather than a parent.

The same is true with God. He is our saviour, deliverer, healer, protector and many more, but above everything else, He wants you to know Him simply as your Father. When you focus on the relationship first, all the other blessings naturally follow!

Jeremiah 3:19 says, “I thought to myself,
‘I would love to treat you as my own children!’
I wanted nothing more than to give you this beautiful land—
the finest possession in the world.
I looked forward to your calling me ‘Father,’
and I wanted you never to turn from me.

But this raises an even bigger question: now that we see why we need to know God, what does it actually mean to be known by Him? This might surprise you. Jeremiah 1:5 says that before you were even formed in your mother’s womb, God knew you.

It is easy to think, "Well, of course He knows me—He created me!" While that is true, there is a much deeper level to it than just that. We will look into that tomorrow.
