Word 4U Today: Wasting the Most Important ThingHalimbawa
How do you view God? Do you see Him principally as Lord, Judge, King, or Ruler? He is all those things, but according to Jesus, hindi ito ang entry point para sa mga believers in their relationship with God. Ours is a privileged relationship.
When Jesus taught his disciples to pray, tinuruan Nya sila to address God as “Abba”, which best translates to “Daddy” o “Papa”. There is an implied tenderness, affection, caring, and protection that comes with every father-child relationship and the same is true in your relationship with your “Abba” God. The truth of the matter is this: wala tayong right to call the Almighty God “Daddy”. Alam natin yan! How can we, with all our sins and all our filth, come to the throne of the judge and call Him “Daddy”. That’s like looking for trouble.
Pero everything changed when Jesus paid the way at the cross para ma-experience natin ang grace. Lahat ng kasalanan natin, our unrighteousness, our unworthiness - Jesus took. All His goodness, all His righteousness, worthiness, His very Sonship - binigay Nya sa atin. Lahat ng rason para katakutan si God, waiting for Him to punish us or strike us with lightning - Jesus swallowed at the cross. “He became sin” at hindi yun natapos dun.
The Bible says “so that we would become the righteousness of God in Christ.” If we look at God through the cross, we no longer see someone to fear. We see a Father who has forgiven us, cleansed us, accepted us as His own. He clothed us, gave us shoes on our feet, a ring on our fingers, and prepared the fatted calf for us. Hindi dahil He is “merciful”, but because He justly punished our sins in the body of His Son.
Through the cross, ang throne ng Panginoon ay hindi na Judge’s throne. It is now the throne of Grace na pwede nating lapitan anytime, with confidence. Never Niyang sasabihin sa atin na “Go away, you filthy sinner!” Instead He will say “Hello my beloved Son/Daughter. How are you? Halika, upo ka sa tabi ko. Usap tayo. What do you have in mind? Tell Daddy.”
