Live Well In Covid Times 预览
1 Timothy 6:8 ESV
But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.
When I used to read this verse before, I always felt Paul’s basic necessity list was too simple - just food and clothing. But I learnt in this lockdown, we actually have very few needs. We were spoilt with choice, first with so many brands and options, and now we are learning to grab whatever is available, wherever it is available. Life is doing a full circle.
Paul is right. Not much is required to survive, the rest is all vanity. Chasing after the wind.
When this is over, may we learn what is worth pursuing and what’s not.
Hebrews 13:5 ESV
Keep your life free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for He said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you!”
Contentment has to do with first knowing what we have and being thankful to God for it. The desire for ‘some more’ has wrecked our lives. Thanksgiving demands that we take an inventory of our lives and see how much God has blessed us.
You are alive today, be thankful.
If you have a place to stay tonight - be thankful.
If you had something to eat - be thankful.
If somebody cared and asked you how you are - be thankful.
If you have someone to love - be thankful.
And if what you have doesn’t seem enough, God is reminding you that you have Him! And He has no intention to leave you! Be thankful!
Meditate:
* Psalm 16:5 NLT
Lord, You alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine.
Pray:
* Thank the Lord for the relationship you have with Him through Jesus Christ.
* Ask Him to work on your heart and do a deep cleansing work.
* Ask Him to give you a thankful heart.
