Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "A Place of Power"

DAY 11 OF 31

Fear is natural. It is a feeling that we have.

As an adult, we fear for our children’s future. We fear what the doctor will say about our health condition, and we fear that the pandemic will destroy our business, or fear that our limitations will make us bad parents.

As children, we fear being alone in our room, we fear that our loved ones will someday leave us, we fear being scolded over a mistake we made earlier today, we fear having bad grades, we fear that we will disappoint our parents.

Even King David, who was mighty, courageous, and, some might say, had a close relationship with God, had some fears in his heart. What did he do when fear attacked? Psalms 56:3 (NIV) says, “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.” As simple as that. David knew that there were times when he alone couldn’t overcome his fears. He needed God, and therefore, he came to God.

Similarly, we should come to God and trust Him when we are afraid.

Devotion for Parents
The Word of God says that fear and worry have no benefit. Instead, they cast shadows over God’s big plan for our lives.

Are you feeling scared today? God is waiting for you to surrender your fears into His hands. This is the right time to do it.

Devotion for Kids
It does not mean that we are not allowed to feel scared. It is a natural feeling, but don’t let fear hinder you from believing in the promise of God that He is always with you in all circumstances.

Each time you are scared, pray and surrender your feelings to God.

Family Devotion Time
Share about your biggest fear with the family.

Then, each person recite Psalms 56:3 by replacing the word “I” with your name.

For example: When David is afraid, David puts his trust in You.
