Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "A Place of Power"Sample

Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "A Place of Power"

DAY 9 OF 31

When Joshua was given the responsibility by God to replace Moses, he knew that he had big shoes to fill. He had seen how the Israelites had kept grumbling to Moses all along the journey; they did evil things that were hurtful to God and didn’t obey Moses’ instructions. Joshua had to lead this stubborn nation to God’s Promised Land.

Scared? Definitely. Anxious? 100%. That’s why God gave power to Joshua before he took on that responsibility. It wasn’t Joshua’s power but God’s amazing and miraculous power that took care of everything. Joshua didn’t lead alone. God blessed him and made him successful.

There are times in life when God allows us to “level up.” For example, getting a promotion at work, being recruited to be part of the student council or the class leader, being chosen for a competition, etc. It’s fun and exciting, but it’s also nerve-wracking, right? But remember, just as God promised Joshua, He promises to all of us today that He will be with us wherever we go. Be strong and courageous, don’t be scared because His power is with you and will help you.

Devotion for Parents
We might be hesitant when we face a new season in life. This is a natural response because we don’t know what the future looks like as humans. However, God’s word today reminds us that we should trust in God and never forget His presence in our lives.

Devotion for Kids
When we are trusted to carry out a task, it’s a proud moment for us, but also it is nerve-wracking. What if we can’t do it? What if we fail? These are the thoughts that might be bothering us.

But remember that you never walk alone. There is a God with you, and He holds your hand. Just do your part well while trusting in Him.

Family Devotion Time
Play a game with all members of the family. Parents get to hide 1 item and give three clues to where it is, and then the kids will try to find it. Then, swap. Kids hide the object for parents to find. Or you can create groups based on the number of people in the family.

In the end, say that the game’s goal of finding the object is to trust and obey instructions. If they obey, they will indeed find the hidden object.

Similarly, in our journey to follow God, there are times when we can only trust and obey. If we do so, we will succeed in all areas of life.
