Day 10 – A Giver of Good Gifts

Daddy loves to give good gifts! James 1:17 (NIV) says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” God doesn’t withhold good things from His children. His gifts are purposeful and life-giving. God’s gifts reveal His goodness and His heart of generosity. He loves us so much, He gave us His only Son to suffer and die so we can be reconciled back to Him and be saved (John 3:16).

The look on my daughter’s face when she receives a gift is absolutely priceless. She closes her eyes for every gift no matter how small and runs around the house screaming joyfully. Matthew 18:3 (NIV) says, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” In anticipating the good gifts that God wants to give you, have the attitude, faith and trust like that of a little child who knows without a shadow of a doubt that their father will give them what they’re asking for. Then when you receive it, don’t quickly move on to the next need on your list, but take time to thank God joyfully.

Maybe you’ve never received a gift from your earthly father, so you don’t expect God to give you good gifts when you ask. In Matthew 7:9-11, God addresses that. He is not like an earthly father even if that father was incredible. God is still greater, limitless and loves you unconditionally and will never give you a gift that will hurt you. When He gives gifts, He doesn’t take them back either (Romans 11:29).

Thank God today for three gifts He has given you recently that you may have overlooked.
