 Week Five - Day Three - Through every trial

Welcome to our Time to Shine devotional!  As we journey together through this devotional, we pray it will help our kids to understand that God is light.  He has given us His spirit to help us navigate through the darkness, just like a lighthouse helps ships to navigate dangerous waters, God’s light helps us to navigate this life.  We find His light in His word, in His people and in His presence.  Through well known Bible Stories we want our kids to know that the darkness cannot overpower God’s light!  

READ:

‘Earthquake in Prison’ in the Beginners Bible (pages 500 - 503) or in Acts 16:24-34.

Paul and Silas were in Prison. That night, God sent an earthquake!

The walls of the prison shook so hard that all the prison doors opened and the chains of the prisoners fell off! 

God always has a plan! He can use the bad things that happen and make them into good things. 

ASK:

Can you think of all of the good things that God has done for you? 

Maybe draw a picture of your favourite things? 

REMEMBER:

The Light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overpowered the Light (John 1:5) 

SAY:

I can shine your light in the darkness, 

With your love and kindness.

We don't ever need to fear,

Because you are always near.

Your light is forever,

Overpowered by darkness?  Never!

We can trust in your light,

Shining so bright.

Leading us through even the darkest days, 

In your love and hope we will always stay.

In Jesus name, Amen
