Chapter nine begins to respond to possible objections made by Jews. Paul asserts that justification and salvation come by faith and not the works of the law and that it is from Christ not Moses. The Jewish people who rejected the message of Jesus couldn’t see past the law and trying to justify themselves by works, and therefore, could not see clearly the new covenant in Jesus Christ’s death.
