Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "First Things First"

DAY 19 OF 31

Everyone is born unique and special, and so is every member of our family – there are strengths and weaknesses, which we have discussed in yesterday’s devotion. We know how God can use our uniqueness, our strengths, and our weaknesses to be a channel of blessing to many people wherever we are. Flaws in our family are not a strong enough reason to stop us from serving God. Precisely because of that the name of God will be glorified.

Each family member is given a choice and free will whether or not to will use their strengths and weaknesses to bless other people. When you commit, as a family, to serve others, imagine how impactful that could be and how many people could be blessed by the work of your hands.

That is a choice given to us today. Which one will you choose? Joshua decided that together with his household, he’d worship and serve the Lord. How about you?

Devotion for Parents
Involving your children to serve while they are still little is good and necessary.

Introducing them to the act of service at a young age is never too early. When our children understand what serving means, it will be easier to guide them as they grow up, so that one day they will be ready to start their ministry as they answer to God’s calling in their lives.

Devotion for Kids
What is serving? Why do I have to serve? I am still little. How does it benefit me?

These questions might pop up in your head. Do you know that serving God is both a gift and a special privilege? You can use whatever you have right now to serve God.

Make a decision today, together with your family, to serve God, even when others are leaving Him.

Family Devotion Time
What is the true meaning of serving?

How should each family member serve according to their age and capability?
