God's Plan

DAY 6 OF 7

The Ninevites repented, God showed mercy, and Jonah did his job! Everything worked out perfectly in the end, right? Well…not exactly. Jonah wanted things to go his way. He thinks God made a mistake by saving the Ninevites and showing them grace. God responds to Jonah with a simple, poignant question: “Is it right for you to be angry about this?” That question is so profound because it puts Jonah in his place. Jonah is angry at the God of the universe for choosing to show grace. It honestly makes Jonah look pretty stupid to respond that way, but the truth is that each of us responds that same way to God’s plan. We get mad when things don’t go our way, and our anger gets in the way of seeing that God had something so much better in store all along. God’s plans always work out for the best.

Challenge: Where have you seen God’s plans work better than your own? Take time today to remember when God’s plan was more incredible than you imagined, and thank him for being faithful to you.

About this Plan

God's Plan

Our culture loves to have a plan. We want to know what’s going to happen so we can be prepared and in control. The problem is that our plans often end miserably. We can’t see the future, so it’s impossible to be 100% sure about anything. But the good news is that God has a greater plan than anything we can imagine.
