MISSION

You probably receive mail several times a week. Have you ever watched how the mail carrier or delivery person behaves? Do they sneak up quietly and try to slip the letter into your mailbox when no one’s watching? Well, that’s not how it looks where I live — the mail is delivered confidently right to the door. The doorbell rings, there’s a short conversation, a quick “please sign here,” and that’s it. The mail carrier comes with a mission. They don’t need to hide.

Before Jesus returned to heaven, He told His disciples to go into all the world and tell people about Him. Everyone on earth should have the opportunity to choose a life with Jesus. These words from Jesus are also directed to us today. We have a mission!

Just as the mail carrier comes in the name of the company that sent your package, we Christians come in the name of Jesus to the people around us — not on our own behalf, but in His name. And not only in His name, but also as His hands and feet.

In our relationship with Jesus, we can learn to become more like Him so that our lives point others toward Him. Maybe you are the only Bible that the people around you will ever read. You don’t have to travel to a distant country to fulfill this mission — your mission starts right where you are, at home.

When you accept the mission from Jesus, you are not on your own. When He returned to heaven, He gave us His Holy Spirit. Just imagine: your mail carrier doesn’t come alone — he has a helper who reads the address, strengthens him, and helps deliver the package.

In the same way, we get to walk with the Holy Spirit. He wants to stand by our side and encourage us. He will give you exactly what you need — right when you need it: courage, confidence, the right words, understanding, strength, divine encounters, and opportunities.

I want to encourage you today to invite the Holy Spirit into your daily life and ask Him how you can take up this mission today. What is today’s assignment? What does He want to show you? What should your focus be today?
