GOING ≠ RESULTS

Yesterday we talked about how Jesus sends us out to tell the people around us about Him. Hopefully, you felt encouraged and together with the Holy Spirit accepted this mission. Wonderful! You’ve taken a really good step forward. Maybe you even had the courage to start a conversation about Jesus. That’s great!

But what if that conversation didn’t immediately lead to a decision for Jesus? Was your courage wasted? Was it wrong to step out like that?

You and I are sent. We have an assignment. But that’s all we’re responsible for.

Jesus tells a parable about a farmer who holds seed in his hand. He scatters it across his fields, but the soil isn’t equally good everywhere. Some seeds fall on the path, some among thorns, others on rocky ground, and still others on good soil. In the parable, the soil represents the hearts of the people who hear about Jesus. Not every heart is equally ready to receive the good news of a loving God who gives second chances. Is it the farmer’s fault that not every seed falls on perfect soil? No! His task is simply to throw the seed and spread it across the field.

Sometimes it’s easy to get discouraged by the lack of visible results — and to stop talking about Jesus altogether. But a seed grows in secret. What happens beneath the surface is hidden from our eyes. One thing is certain: those who never sow will never see fruit.

I want to encourage you today to embrace your part in the task. Recommit again to use what has been entrusted to you— as best as you can – for Jesus. Exactly where He has placed you.

For whom in your life have you prayed that they will come to know Jesus? And for whom have you perhaps stopped praying because you haven’t seen any results yet? Let God give you fresh faith today and storm heaven on behalf of the people in your life. Who knows which seed will germinate and rise up today.
