Some of the sweetest stories in the films, books, and shows we love are those of couples who stay together for a lifetime. Just think about the ending of The Notebook! One of the reasons the love story is so powerful and sentimental is the way it ends. After all those years together, the main couple passes away in one another’s arms. They’re literally with one another until the very, very end. That’s love, right? Well, in real life, that kind of love can be hard to find. In fact, the only real source of that type of enduring presence in our lives is God Himself. We see this promise in Jesus’ words recorded here in Matthew. Before He left this world, Jesus made a promise to His disciples that still holds for all of us today. That promise? To be with us always. To be with us until the very end of time. When everything and everyone else around us fades, we will still have the presence of God with us always.
Today, write this verse somewhere you’ll see it often. Each time you come across it, stop and thank God for the promise of His presence to the very end of time.

About this Plan

As humans, we all wonder what God is really like? Is God kind, loving, powerful, attentive, loyal? Is God distant, unfair, harsh, judgmental, or absent? In other words, we’re asking: what can we be sure is always true about who God is? In this devotional, we’ll look to Scripture to explore those questions and ground the answers in unshakeable, unchangeable truth, uncovering more about who God is and why we can trust Him not just now, but always.
