DAY 8 OF 20

There’s something incredibly humbling about the water. When you stand before the vast and mighty ocean, when you float peacefully on a slow-moving river, when you ride the rapids with courage, or even when you dip your feet in a pool on a fabulous day, there’s something about it that reminds you just how small you are. Against the backdrop of a strong rushing current, it can be easy to think that the very same God who is pushing that water forward isn’t standing with you on its shores. But as Isaiah reminds us, He is! When we stand at the edge of the water and, more so, when we pass through its strong ripples and waves, we can be confident that we aren’t facing it alone. When our circumstances feel like they’re tossing us around like a storm at sea, we can find comfort in knowing that God is right there in the water next to us. No matter how small we may feel, no matter how alone we may think we are, no matter how challenging the waters we’re passing through may be, God is with us… always.

This week, find a way to experience water in nature. Whether it’s as small as a local creek or as great as a big ocean, let the water remind you that the very same God who is within it is standing beside you always.

About this Plan

Always

As humans, we all wonder what God is really like? Is God kind, loving, powerful, attentive, loyal? Is God distant, unfair, harsh, judgmental, or absent? In other words, we’re asking: what can we be sure is always true about who God is? In this devotional, we’ll look to Scripture to explore those questions and ground the answers in unshakeable, unchangeable truth, uncovering more about who God is and why we can trust Him not just now, but always.
