DAY 13 OF 15

We all know what it feels like to be defined by our past. We all know what it means to have moments and missteps hang over our heads. The relationship that fell apart, the addiction that once had you caught up, the financial mess you made for yourself, the job you lost over that major mistake—the one decision that feels like it now defines who you are. No matter how far we’ve come from those moments or how much we’ve changed since that time in our lives, for some reason, they still loom large over us. In a way, our old self feels inescapable. The good news here is that the miracle of Easter means those moments and missteps are, in fact, very much behind us.

As Scripture says, the power of Christ in use means we become someone new—a new creation in Him. The old us is gone and the new us—the us who lives in the freedom of Christ—remains. That is part of what Jesus’ resurrection reveals to us, and it’s part of the miracle that is Easter. This week, work to memorize this verse. Let it be a reminder that who you are isn’t defined by what you’ve done or the choices you’ve made. Your identity is found in the power of Christ, who makes you new.

About this Plan

Reveal

The story of Easter really is the story of a miracle. A miracle preceded by many others that all ultimately point us to one thing: the truth of who God is, how God loves us, and the way God is working on our behalf. In this devotional, we’ll look at three major miracles recorded in the gospel of John. As we do, we’ll see that these miracles were all pointing us toward something greater. We’ll see the reveal of the greatest miracle of all: the resurrection of Jesus.
