Day 6: Mary Asks Jesus to Save the Wedding

Not long after choosing his disciples, Jesus was invited to a wedding. Everyone was having a great time eating, laughing, and drinking!

Have you ever been to a wedding? What was it like? Did anything go wrong?

At the wedding Jesus went to, there was a big problem…

Can you guess what it was?

There was no more wine! What would people drink?

Mary knew that Jesus could perform a miracle to save the wedding, so she said to him, "There's no more wine." Jesus asked Mary, "Why are you telling me this? This isn't the right time for me to do a miracle."

Why do you think Jesus said this wasn't the right time to perform a miracle? What do you think Jesus' reasons for performing miracles were?

Jesus performed miracles to show that God had sent him and to teach them things about God. But he wasn't ready to begin God's work just yet, and he didn't want to perform a miracle just to show off.

Even so, Jesus agreed to help his mother.
