Despite Everything

DAY 7 OF 7

Prayer that sustains marriage

When a marriage is going through difficulties, prayer often becomes the last resort, not the first. We try to solve everything ourselves: to negotiate, to endure, to survive, to suffer through it. And only when our strength is exhausted do we remember God. But Jesus, in the Sermon on the Mount, invites us to take a completely different approach.

Prayer is not an escape from reality or a magical way to avoid difficult conversations. It is an acknowledgment that our marriage is not too difficult for God. On the contrary, it is precisely where we feel our own limitations that there is room for God to act.

Praying together gradually changes the atmosphere in a relationship. It does not always solve problems instantly, but it changes hearts. It helps us to stop, listen, and seek not only our own will, but the will of God. In prayer, we learn to entrust to God not only individual moments, but the entire journey of our marriage.

Sometimes the wisest decision in marriage is a simple phrase: "Let's stop and pray about it." There is great power in this simplicity. For God is not an outside observer of our covenant. He is the One who united us, supports us, and leads us forward.

Questions for reflection:

  • What place does prayer have in our marriage today?
  • What is the hardest thing for me to entrust to God in our relationship?
  • What might our shared prayer look like this week?

Prayer:

Lord, I want to entrust our marriage and our journey to You. Teach me to pray for our marriage and build our relationship together with You.

Amen.

Love does not preserve itself. It needs a foundation, daily nourishment, and the living presence of God in the relationship. This plan did not promise an easy marriage, but it reminded us that a reliable marriage is built on covenant, grace, and obedience to Christ. Storms do not mean defeat. Often, they only reveal what we are truly building on. As I created this plan, I prayed as a pastor for everyone who would read it, that the Lord would give you the grace to cherish love, remain faithful, and not lose hope—despite everything.

Thank you for taking this plan together with us!

We hope these days of prayer helped you to get closer to God, hear His voice, and live with new clarity, power, and hope.
