Exodus: Chapter by ChapterSample

Trusting God Beyond Your Confidence
I’ve wrestled with fear and insecurity before, and it’s an uncomfortable place to be. That inner voice that questions Am I enough? What if I fail? It can be paralyzing. Fear has a way of shrinking our vision and magnifying our weaknesses, making us doubt whether we should take the next step God is asking of us.
Moses knew that feeling well. When God called him to lead Israel out of Egypt, Moses didn’t respond with confidence; he hesitated. He questioned his ability, his words, and even his worth. Yet God didn’t dismiss Moses or replace him. Instead, He responded with patience. God reminded Moses that the mission would not succeed because Moses was strong, persuasive, or fearless, but because God Himself would be present and powerful.
Even when Pharaoh resisted, and circumstances grew harder, God’s promises did not waver. Obedience didn’t remove the tension or fear, but it anchored Moses to something greater than his own confidence. Step by step, Moses learned that trusting God mattered more than believing in himself.
This is true for us as well. God does not wait for us to feel fearless before He works through us. He invites us to move forward while trusting Him beyond our insecurities. When we obey in faith, we discover that God’s strength shows up right where our confidence runs out.
Respond to God’s Word:
- What step of obedience is God calling you to take, even if you feel afraid or unsure?
- Pray today, asking God to help you trust His power more than your own ability.
