Exodus: Chapter by ChapterSample

Trusting the God Who Protects and Provides
I remember getting into a horrible car accident when I was younger. The car was totaled, and my first reaction was anger, angry over the loss of my first car and overwhelmed by everything that had just happened. But as I stepped out of the wreck, my perspective began to change. The crash had stopped just a few feet from a gas station. Had it gone any further, lives could have been lost. Even more incredible, my friends and I all walked away without a single scratch. That night, it became clear to me: God had protected us.
That memory is one I return to often, especially in difficult seasons. It reminds me that even when circumstances feel chaotic or disappointing, God is still present, still faithful, and still worthy of my trust for what lies ahead.
In these chapters, God’s rescue plan reaches its climax in the Passover. Through the blood of a lamb placed on the doorposts, God provides a way of salvation. Obedience becomes the dividing line between life and death. Israel is not saved by strength, strategy, or merit, but by trusting God’s provision. That night marks a defining moment of redemption as God delivers His people from slavery and leads them toward freedom.
This reminds us that God’s protection and provision are rooted in His covenant faithfulness. He rescues not because His people are powerful, but because He is faithful. When we trust what God provides, even when we don’t fully understand, we step into freedom shaped by His grace.
Respond to God’s Word:
- How does trusting God’s provision bring freedom into your life?
- Reflect on a moment when God protected you, and let that memory strengthen your trust in Him for the season ahead.
