Resurrection Sunday

Resurrection Sunday begins in confusion and grief. Mary Magdalene stands outside an empty tomb, weeping. The disciples hide behind locked doors, afraid. No one expects resurrection. And then Jesus speaks her name: “Mary.”

In a single moment, sorrow turns to joy. Death gives way to life. What seemed like the end becomes a beginning.

The resurrection is not merely a happy ending to a sad story; it is the launching point of a new creation. As N.T. Wright writes, “The message of Easter is that God’s new world has been unveiled in Jesus Christ.” The stone is rolled away not just from a tomb, but from the future of humanity.

When Jesus appears to the disciples, His first words are, “Peace be with you.” These are not just polite greetings; they are resurrection realities. The peace purchased on the cross is now proclaimed by the risen King. Fear no longer has the final word. Sin no longer defines you. Death no longer wins.

Then He breathes on them and sends them: “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” Resurrection life is not meant to be admired from a distance; it is meant to be lived and shared in abundance. Because He lives, your past can be forgiven, your present can be filled with purpose, and your future can be secure.

Resurrection Sunday calls us to step out of the shadows and into the light of a living Saviour.
