Like a Tree – DevotionalSample

YOUR ANCHOR
Anchored by Truth, Not Noise
“Remain in me, as I also remain in you…” – John 15:4 (NIV)
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” – Romans 12:2 (NIV)
Big Idea: Remaining in Jesus starts with letting His Word renew your inner world—because what shapes you privately will steady you publicly.
Adult life has a way of speeding up your inner life. Deadlines, bills, relationships, health concerns, decision fatigue, leadership pressure, loneliness, transitions—so much of it runs through your mind on repeat. And if you’re not careful, the loudest voices (culture, fear, comparison, urgency, worst-case scenarios) become the truest voices.
To grow means to anchor: you remain in Jesus as a branch remains in the vine. One of the primary ways you do that is by remaining in His Word—not just reading quickly, but letting Scripture shape the deeper layers of who you are: your reasons (motives), your ways (patterns and responses), and your values (what you refuse to compromise). Biblical meditation is less like skimming headlines and more like slowly absorbing nourishment. Try circling a passage until it starts to rewire what you believe, what you desire, and how you make choices.
When the Word anchors you, you don’t drift as easily. You may still face challenges, but your decisions gain clarity, your reactions soften, and your integrity grows roots.
Reflection Questions:
- What has been shaping your inner conversation lately—peace or pressure, truth or noise?
- What is one Scripture passage you could “circle” this week (read slowly, reflect, pray, repeat)?
- Where do you most need your motives, choices, or values anchored right now?
Prayer Focus: Lord Jesus, anchor my mind in Your truth. Renew my private world so my public life becomes steady, wise, and fruitful.

About this Plan

Psalm 1 describes the person who is like a tree planted by streams of water, whose leaves do not wither and who yields fruit in season. They are privately healthy, deeply planted and rooted in the Lord, and publicly fruitful. But how do we live like a tree? This 10-week devotional dives into the key principles of being rooted in God, delighting in His Word, and bearing lasting fruit for His Kingdom.
