Bigger Than Us

DAY 25 OF 30

The writer of Hebrews paints a vivid picture of Scripture—not as static ink on paper, but as something alive, powerful, and deeply personal. God’s Word is not a relic from the past; it’s His living voice speaking into our present. When we read Scripture, Scripture also reads us. God’s Word doesn’t just inform—it transforms. It cuts through our defenses, exposes our hidden motives, and reveals the truth about who we are and what we love. That can feel uncomfortable, even painful at times, but it’s also profoundly healing. The same sword that convicts us also performs surgery on our hearts—removing what’s false and restoring what’s true.

Every time we open the Bible, we meet a living God who knows us completely and loves us enough to tell us the truth. That’s what makes His Word so powerful: it not only reveals but renews.

When was the last time a verse of Scripture truly “cut to the heart” for you—challenging, correcting, or comforting you? How can you invite God’s Word to search your heart this week rather than simply reading it for information?

Try this: before opening your Bible, pray, “Lord, let Your Word read me as I read it.” Then listen for what He highlights in your spirit.

About this Plan

Bigger Than Us

The real challenge in life is not how well we start but how we stay faithful over time. In this devotional, we will journey with God’s people as they move from brokenness to renewal. We’ll meet a God who uses personal burdens, teamwork, perseverance through opposition, His Word, and lifelong faithfulness to accomplish His purposes. When the opposition feels too strong, there’s a bigger God who meets us in the middle of it all—a God who works in and through ordinary people.
