Bigger Than Us

DAY 24 OF 30

These words were spoken by Jesus in the wilderness—hungry, alone, and tempted by the enemy to turn stones into bread. After forty days without food, the temptation must have been fierce. It would be for any of us. Yet Jesus’ response revealed something deeper than hunger or need: true life doesn’t come from what we consume, but from what we believe. Bread sustains the body, but God’s Word sustains the soul. Jesus knew that physical needs are real, but spiritual nourishment is essential. The world tells us satisfaction comes from success, comfort, or control—but Jesus reminds us that our deepest fulfillment comes from trusting and depending on God’s Word.

When we’re weary, empty, or tempted to settle for quick fixes, God’s Word speaks life. It reminds us that the same voice that created the universe still sustains us today. In every season, His Word is the nourishment our hearts crave.

What “bread” are you tempted to live on right now—comfort, busyness, affirmation, achievement? How can you feed on God’s Word this week in a way that strengthens your spirit—even more than you feed your schedule or desires?

Try this: before every meal this week, pause and whisper a short prayer—“Lord, feed my soul with Your Word as You feed my body.”

About this Plan

Bigger Than Us

The real challenge in life is not how well we start but how we stay faithful over time. In this devotional, we will journey with God’s people as they move from brokenness to renewal. We’ll meet a God who uses personal burdens, teamwork, perseverance through opposition, His Word, and lifelong faithfulness to accomplish His purposes. When the opposition feels too strong, there’s a bigger God who meets us in the middle of it all—a God who works in and through ordinary people.
