Bigger Than UsSample

These words come at the end of Jesus’ final conversation with His disciples before the cross. He doesn’t promise an easy path—in fact, He promises the opposite: “In this world you will have trouble” (John 16:33). It’s a sobering truth. Trouble isn’t an exception to the Christian life; it’s part of it. But that’s not where Jesus stopped. His next words change everything: “But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Jesus didn’t remove the reality of suffering—He redefined it. The peace He offers isn’t the absence of conflict; it’s the presence of Himself in the midst of it. His victory over sin, death, and darkness means that the battles we face today are fought under the banner of a war that’s already been won.
So when anxiety, loss, or uncertainty press in, remember peace isn’t found in having control—it’s found in trusting the One who already reigns over it all. The One who faced the cross and walked out of the tomb offers a peace that cannot be shaken, even when everything else is.
Expect trouble, but cling to peace. Don’t be surprised by hardship—be anchored by the peace Jesus provides within it.
Take heart daily. Courage isn’t the absence of fear; it’s the choice to trust Jesus’ victory more than your circumstances.
Live from victory, not for it. You don’t have to earn peace or fight for hope—Christ has already secured both for you.

About this Plan

The real challenge in life is not how well we start but how we stay faithful over time. In this devotional, we will journey with God’s people as they move from brokenness to renewal. We’ll meet a God who uses personal burdens, teamwork, perseverance through opposition, His Word, and lifelong faithfulness to accomplish His purposes. When the opposition feels too strong, there’s a bigger God who meets us in the middle of it all—a God who works in and through ordinary people.
