Day 12: Time Is the Real Currency
Scripture: Ephesians 5:15–16 (NIV)
"Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil."
Money is recoverable. Time isn't.
You can make more money. You cannot make more time. Every hour you spend is gone. And Paul says to be very careful about how you live, because the days matter.
This isn't a guilt trip about screen time, though that's worth thinking about. It's a bigger question about what you're actually investing your life in. Because you are investing it somewhere, whether you're intentional about it or not.
The student who spends every free hour consuming content without creating anything, without growing anything, without building anything, isn't resting. They're spending. And time spent without intention is time that doesn't compound into anything.
Stewardship of time doesn't mean every minute has to be productive in some measurable way. Rest is real. Fun is real. Relationships take time, and that's not wasted. But there's a difference between intentional rest and just drifting through your hours because it's easier than being purposeful.
What are you doing with the time God has given you right now? Not in five years. Right now, in this season, with the hours you actually have.
Reflect: If someone looked at how you spent your time last week, what would they say you value most?
Today: Check your screen time. Pick one hour this week that you'd normally spend scrolling and use it for something that actually builds toward who you want to become.

About this Plan

Kingdom Grind is a 20-day devotional designed to help high school students connect their faith to real, everyday life. Over four weeks, students explore four foundational themes —vision, integrity, stewardship, and impact — through Scripture, honest reflection, and a practical daily action step. Each devotional is grounded, direct, and built for students who want their faith to shape not just who they are, but what they build.
