Kingdom Grind

DAY 17 OF 20

Day 17: You Can't Hide a City

Scripture: Matthew 5:14–15 (NIV)
"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house."

You already have a platform. It might not have a follower count attached to it, but you have one. The people in your class. Your team. Your job. Your family. Your neighborhood. Those people see you every day, and what they see is either pointing somewhere or it isn't.

Jesus says you're a city on a hill. You can't hide it. You're already visible to the people around you. The question isn't whether they're watching. It's what they're seeing.

A lot of students think impact requires a big platform. Thousands of followers. A viral moment. A stage. But the most consistent light in most people's lives isn't a celebrity. It's someone they actually know. Someone who shows up. Someone who's real.

You don't need more followers to have more impact. You need to stop hiding the light you already have. Stop compartmentalizing. Stop being one person at church and a different one everywhere else. Let what's real about your faith actually show up in the places you already are.

The bowl is comfortable. But it's not what the light is for.

Reflect: Are you living differently in different spaces? What would it look like to be consistent?

Today: In one space where you normally keep your faith quiet, let something real show. It doesn't have to be a speech. Just be who you actually are.

About this Plan

Kingdom Grind

Kingdom Grind is a 20-day devotional designed to help high school students connect their faith to real, everyday life. Over four weeks, students explore four foundational themes —vision, integrity, stewardship, and impact — through Scripture, honest reflection, and a practical daily action step. Each devotional is grounded, direct, and built for students who want their faith to shape not just who they are, but what they build.
