Day 4: When the Plan Feels Wrong
Scripture: Proverbs 16:9 (NIV)
"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps."
You can do everything right and still end up somewhere you didn't plan. That's not a malfunction. That's actually how God tends to work.
You make the plan. God establishes the steps. Those two things don't always look the same.
Maybe you had a plan for this year, and it fell apart. A relationship ended. A team cut you. A grade tanked. A family situation changed everything. And now you're standing in the middle of something you didn't choose, wondering if God is even paying attention.
He is. But His version of "establishing your steps" doesn't always feel like guidance. Sometimes it feels like disruption.
Here's what's hard to hold onto in those moments: the detour is not the destination. God redirecting you isn't God abandoning you. Sometimes the path He's taking you on requires going through something uncomfortable to get somewhere better.
Proverbs doesn't say God overrides your plans to punish you. It says He establishes your steps, meaning He's involved in the actual movement of your life, not just the big picture. The small decisions. The unexpected turns. The doors that close. All of it is in His hands.
You're allowed to grieve the plan that didn't work out. And then you're allowed to trust that the one who knows the plans is still leading.
Reflect: Is there a plan that fell apart recently that you're still holding onto? What would it look like to release it?
Today: Write down one thing that didn't go the way you expected. Then write one sentence: "God, I trust you with this." You don't have to feel it yet. Just say it.
