Words Without Actions Are Meaningless
James 3:13a
Are there any among you who are really wise and understanding? Then you should show your wisdom by living right.
The story tells us about a father who had two sons. He asked his sons to go and work in his vineyard. The first son said he would not go but eventually he went and did what his father asked him to do. The second son said he would go but eventually he didn't go at all.
Jesus wanted us to realise that what we do is more important than what we say. It is easy to say something from our mouth but it might not be easy to really take action of what we have said earlier.
Words without actions are meaningless because actions speak louder than words. Jesus was reminding us that making a promise is very much different from carrying out our promise.
Jesus did not only use His words to teach about God, but He also did it through His actions. His actions matched His words. Let us be like Jesus. We should always do what we say we will do, and we should keep our promises.
Prayer
Dear God, I want to always keep my promises and do what I say I will do. Amen.
