Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "Look at "Us

DAY 3 OF 31

This verse speaks to me personally. A month ago, something happened to me and my students. Our worship session at school, as well as our religious studies class, were banned by a school leader. He broke down the door while we were in the middle of worship. What he did caused us to fear because it was a traumatic experience. We were shocked to be persecuted that way because nothing like that had ever happened in the years we had been carrying out similar activities.

We had a couple of choices that we could have made. We could have uploaded what he did on social media and made it viral, or we could have marched around the school, or we could have retaliated, or notified the authorities. But, were those the best choices? Finally, we decided to do what the Word of God says. We prayed and surrendered everything to God. We learned to love the leader who persecuted us and did not retaliate in violence. Instead, we gave our best effort to find a solution in a proper way.

Long story short, we brought the case to the Ministry of Religion of Christian Guidance, the competent authority. Finally, it ended well, beyond what we had hoped for. Thank God that the students are now able to worship and learn about the Truth.

It is very important to put the Word of God into practice, such as repaying evil with good and loving everyone with God’s love, including those who do not love us. Believe me, there will always be a way.

Devotion for Parents
How often do we hear people say that “revenge is necessary”, or “this is not the time to stay silent, we have to retaliate so we won’t be underestimated”?

What do you think? Is that what the Bible says?

Devotion for Kids
There are times when we think that evil has to be repaid with (more) evil. When someone treats us badly, we have the right to seek revenge.

Is that the right thinking? What does the Bible say?

Family Devotion Time
Share your experience of a time when you were in a situation where you had been treated unfairly.

What did you do? Discuss with your family whether or not what you did was right.

Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "Look at "Us

As God's children, we are a reflection of who He is and the various characters He has. During this month we will look at the principles together and how to be the light in our lives.
