Uncharted

DAY 17 OF 30

Rare is the person who hasn’t experienced the pain of failure. For some, loss and struggle seem to come more often than not. During those times, it can be incredibly tempting to walk away from the faith we once held tightly.

Paul could identify with seasons of loss, failure, and pain. He wrote 2 Timothy during one of the darkest periods in his life. Even while imprisoned and facing hardship, he still wrote a letter of encouragement to Timothy and to us. Paul urged Timothy to stay faithful to the Lord’s calling in his life, despite Paul’s bleak and challenging current situation.

Paul’s main message in his letter? To keep our eyes focused on Jesus. While the journey may be challenging and at times unclear, the reward of pleasing Jesus makes it worthwhile. Even when our faith falters, God remains faithful because it’s in His nature. He cannot deny who He is.

This truth is good news! It reminds us that our hope doesn’t rest on the strength of our faith but on God’s unwavering and unchanging grace. It is Jesus holding on to us, and not the other way around. Even our failures, faithlessness, and weakness serve His divine purpose: they magnify His success, faithfulness, and strength. What feels like a setback to us is often God’s setup to show up and show off!

So don’t give up. Don’t become discouraged and disheartened. No matter what it looks like right now, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. It’s Jesus applauding you, guiding you, and never letting go.

About this Plan

Uncharted

Seasons of life can feel uncertain or uncharted—no clear map. No instructions. Just a nudge to move forward, even when you’re not sure where you’re going. Faith can feel the same way. It can sometimes feel like we’re following God into places that feel too big, too strange, or too complicated. In this devotional, we’ll walk with Moses and wrestle with what it means to trust a God who invites us to move forward even when the road ahead is uncertain.
