DAY 5 OF 21

Day 5 – BELOVED: Important

Scripture: Matthew 20:29–34, 1 Peter 5:7

John Larsson, a former General of The Salvation Army, wrote a song in 1987 with a simple but powerful message. The chorus says,

“Someone cares, someone cares.
Someone knows your deepest needs, your burden shares.
Someone cares, someone cares.
God Himself will hear the whisper of your prayer.”

Those words remind us of a truth we sometimes forget. The God we worship is not distant or distracted. He cares deeply about His people, even when they feel overlooked or unheard.

The Gospels give us a clear picture of that kind of care. In Matthew 20, Jesus is surrounded by a large crowd as He leaves a city. People are pressing in from every direction. On the side of the road sit two blind men. They can’t see Jesus, but they know He’s near. Desperate, they begin to shout, begging Him to have mercy on them.

The crowd responds quickly. Be quiet. Stop causing a scene. You’re not important enough to interrupt what’s happening.

But Jesus hears them.

He stops. In the middle of all the noise, He singles them out and calls them to Himself. Then He asks them a question He already knows the answer to: “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus wasn’t just interested in healing their blindness. He was showing them that they mattered. That their voices were worth hearing. That they were important to Him.

This is the heart of God.

Even when life feels crowded, even when others dismiss you, God pays attention. He invites you to bring everything to Him, not because your problems are impressive, but because you matter. Scripture tells us we can cast all our worries on Him because He cares for us.

You are not overlooked.
You are not a burden.

You are BELOVED.
And you are important.

About this Plan

BeLOVE(d)

You are Beloved. Called to be loved. Sent to be love. This 21-day devotional invites students to discover who they are in Christ, learn how to receive God’s love, and live that love out daily. Through Scripture, honest reflection, and real-life examples, students will explore their identity, respond to God’s invitation, and grow in what it means to love like Jesus. Whether faith feels new or familiar, this plan challenges students to trust God’s heart, choose His way, and let love shape how they live.
