DAY 8 OF 21

Day 8 – BE LOVED: Accept His Invitation

Scripture: Luke 14:16–24, Revelation 3:20

You are cordially invited!

Yes, YOU.

That might sound formal or distant, but this invitation is personal. God Himself is inviting you into something deeper, and He is paying attention to your response.

In Luke 14, Jesus tells a story about a banquet. Everything is ready. The table is set. Invitations are sent out. But one by one, the invited guests offer excuses. They aren’t rejecting the invitation outright. They’re choosing something else first. Work. Comfort. Distraction. None of their reasons seem terrible, but together they keep them from responding.

If you’re familiar with Jesus’ stories, called parables, you know they often point to something deeper than what’s happening on the surface. In this story, Jesus is showing what God’s invitation has always been about. God first invited His people, Israel, into a close relationship with Him, but many chose to go their own way. So through Jesus, that invitation was extended to everyone.

Those who accept God’s invitation experience life with Him, both now and forever. Those who choose to ignore it choose life apart from Him. God does not force relationship, but He does take our response seriously.

This invitation isn’t only about eternity. It’s about relationship right now. God desires to walk closely with you, to guide you, strengthen you, and shape your life with His love. Revelation describes Him standing at the door, knocking. He does not force His way in. He waits for you to open the door.

To be loved means choosing to receive what God is offering. It means making space for Him, even when it requires change.

The invitation has already been extended.

Will you accept it?
