Understanding RighteousnessSample

Sin is a Choice, Not a Compulsion
Scripture: 1 John 3:6
“Anyone who continues to live in Him will not sin. But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know Him or understand who He is.”
Devotional
Because Jesus broke the power of sin, we are no longer its slaves; instead, we are invited to live as "slaves to righteousness”. As we abide in Christ, we often find that the grip of old habits begins to loosen in the light of His presence. While we are empowered by grace to say "no" to sin, we are encouraged to actively participate in this new life by daily choosing the paths that reflect our true nature in Him. Before salvation, a believer has no control or option to reject sin. But after receiving Christ, we can reject sin as the gift of righteousness makes us victorious.
Reflection Questions:
- Do I treat sin as an inevitable bondage, or do I accept that because of righteousness, it is now a choice I have the power to refuse?
- Where do I need to participate more actively by giving myself to righteousness, instead of allowing ungodly desires?
Prayer Declaration
Lord, I thank You that the power of sin is broken in my life. I acknowledge that sin is now a choice, and I choose to continue to live in Christ Jesus. I give myself to be a slave of righteousness, and I declare that I will produce right living in every area of my life. Amen.

About this Plan

Righteousness is a gift. It is not something you work for, struggle for, or attain through personal effort. This 18-day plan from Pastor Stephen Waiganjo and Ruach West Assembly is designed to help you explore how the Gift of Righteousness is your permanent, non-negotiable qualification. Through reflection, and prayer, we invite you to move past the weight of human effort and rest in the grace of your right standing with God.
