Don't Withdraw From Your Community
When life gets overwhelming, whether it's a painful breakup, conflict at home, or simply feeling defeated, it's natural to want to pull away. Maybe you retreat into your music or try to disappear for a while. The thought might be, "I'll rejoin everyone when I feel like myself again." Sometimes, we act as if our struggles are a burden others shouldn't have to bear.
But Hebrews 10 challenges that instinct. It encourages us to "consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together."
Why is this so important? Because isolation often makes things harder. When you're left alone with your thoughts, negativity can easily take over and it's hard to see things clearly. It's easy to lose hope when you’re dealing with everything by yourself.
Community changes that. It’s not about someone having all the answers to fix your problems, it’s about not walking through pain alone. Sometimes, support looks like a friend checking in or a leader sending a reminder of encouragement you need to hear. It’s a message that says, "You’re not alone."
Finding joy in hardship isn’t just about trying harder or pretending everything's fine. Sometimes, you need to lean on others and allow them to help carry the weight. When your faith or hope feels weak, let your community support you until you find strength again. Resist the urge to hide, those who care about you are willing to stand by you, even in the tough moments.
Application:
Try not to isolate yourself today. Reach out to someone you trust. Talk to a friend, mentor, or family member. You don’t have to share everything, but let them know you’ve been having a difficult week and could use some encouragement. And if you’re feeling strong, consider checking in on someone who may need support but hasn’t reached out.
