DAY 19 OF 20

Enduring Hope

Waiting can be challenging, especially when you’re looking forward to something meaningful. Maybe it’s new shoes, the latest console, or a thoughtful gift from a friend. You check tracking updates, count down the days, and try to be patient. That anticipation keeps you going, even when the wait feels long, because you trust the end result will be worth it.

Romans 8:18 gives us this same type of encouragement, only it’s about so much more than a package. Paul writes, "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us."

Paul isn’t minimizing anyone’s pain or pretending that suffering isn’t real. He’s inviting us to see the bigger picture. He weighed our temporary difficulties against the eternal joy and glory God has prepared, and the difference is overwhelming. The hope of what’s ahead vastly outweighs whatever you’re facing right now.

This hope is what fuels our joy, even when life is difficult. It reminds us that our struggles aren’t permanent and that God’s promises go beyond what we see or feel in the moment. The future God has for you is more incredible than anything you could imagine, and that makes the waiting—even the hard days—worthwhile.

Application:
What promise from God helps you keep going when life is tough? Take time to find one. Maybe it’s, “I will never leave you” (Hebrews 13:5), “My grace is sufficient for you” (2 Corinthians 12:9), or “He works all things for good” (Romans 8:28). Write that promise down and keep it somewhere visible—your phone lock screen or a note on your mirror—so it’s always close when you need encouragement.
