The Sun Will Come Out
Have you ever spent a night unable to quiet your thoughts? Maybe you were worried about a disagreement, thinking over something you wish you could change, or simply feeling the weight of loneliness. In those moments, the darkness can make everything seem more difficult, and it’s easy to believe the night will never end.
Psalm 30:5 offers a reminder about the nature of our emotions over time: “Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.”
This verse doesn’t ignore pain or sadness. The Bible recognizes that suffering is a part of life. There will be times when we feel overwhelmed, when tears come easily, and when tough seasons seem to linger much longer than we’d like. But there is also a promise here: morning will come. Joy will return.
Our emotions, much like the weather, change with time. The storms may feel fierce and never-ending right now, but they will eventually pass. God has created a world where even the darkest seasons eventually give way to light. Darkness is not permanent.
If you’re going through a “night” season right now, struggling with sadness, anxiety, or confusion, please hold on. You will not stay in this place forever. This difficult chapter isn’t where your story ends. Joy is coming, as certain as the sunrise. Stay steady and endure through the night—you will see the morning.
Application:
Be honest about what you’re facing. Take a moment to open a note on your phone or write in a journal. Name one “night” situation in your life—something hard, sad, or unclear. Then quietly pray, “God, I trust that this isn’t forever. Help me wait for the morning. Show me the joy that’s ahead.”
