He Is Singing Over You

Picture the feeling of knowing, really knowing, that someone is in your corner, no matter what. Maybe you’ve had an experience where you've heard that one unmistakable voice cheering for you in the crowd. Sometimes it’s a little embarrassing, but it matters. That encouragement gives you confidence even when things get tough.

It’s common to imagine God as distant or stern, watching and waiting for us to slip up. Sometimes we even think He’s just barely putting up with us, disappointed by our failures.

But Zephaniah 3:17 offers a different image. The verse assures us, “The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love, He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

God doesn’t just tolerate you, He deeply delights in you. The Creator isn’t looking for perfection; His love isn’t earned by flawless behavior or impressive spiritual acts. Instead, He rejoices over you because you belong to Him.

When you accept that God’s love is steadfast, loud, joyful, and unwavering, it changes how you view yourself and your circumstances. You don’t have to strive for acceptance. God’s joy for you is constant, even on days you feel unworthy.

Words shape how we see ourselves. Take a moment today, whether in front of a mirror or in a quiet place, and speak Zephaniah 3:17 to yourself personally: “The Lord my God is with me. He delights in me. He rejoices over me with singing.” Repeat it until it begins to feel true. Allow that truth to anchor your joy today.
