DAY 9 OF 20

Carrying the Weight Together

Have you ever tried to carry every grocery bag in one trip because you didn’t want to make a second run to the car? Your hands ache, your arms feel the strain, and any slip could send everything crashing to the ground. It might look impressive, but it’s also a lot of unnecessary struggle.

Sometimes, life isn’t much different. We find ourselves trying to manage all our worries, our fears about what’s next, tension in our families, and mistakes we can’t stop thinking about, completely on our own. We convince ourselves that real strength means shouldering it all alone. But Galatians 6:2 points us in a different direction: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

The “law of Christ” is rooted in love. When we step into someone else’s struggle to help them carry their burdens, we’re putting Christ’s love into action.

There’s something powerful about joy in community: when we share the load, it becomes more manageable. Offering to help a friend isn’t just about being kind; it builds a bond that goes deeper than shared interests or casual hangouts. There’s a meaningful, lasting joy in knowing you’re not alone with your struggles, and that you can be there for others when they need support.

Application:
Make it a priority to support someone today. Reach out to a friend and ask, “How can I pray for you? Is there something on your mind?” When they respond, take the time to pray for them, don’t just send a quick emoji or a short reply. Let them know that carrying burdens together is what real community looks like.
