What Does It Mean to Be Human?

DAY 4 OF 21

Worship: Our response

Psalm 8 begins and ends in the same place: worship. True worship centres not on us but on God. Having marvelled at His majesty and recognised our dignity, the psalmist responds with praise.

Worship flows from wonder. When we see God’s greatness and His care for us, gratitude wells up. It is not forced but natural, the heart’s response to awe. Worship reminds us of who God is – sovereign, majestic, and good. It also reminds us of who we are – loved, dependent, and created to reflect Him.

Notice also how worship is both personal and public. Most English translations say, Lord, our Lord,” but the passage really reads, “O Yahweh, our Adonai”. Yahweh primarily reflects God’s covenant faithfulness, and Adonai speaks mainly of His sovereignty. Worship is intimate but also a public witness to the world. When we lift God’s name high, others see His glory.

To be fully human is to worship. This is what we were made for – to reflect God’s image and give Him glory. Work, creativity, service, song, and prayer all become worship when offered to Him.

As you close this devotion, ask: how will I respond? Will I live in wonder, embrace my worth, and worship the God whose image I bear?

Reflection:
What does it look like for me to worship God today – not just in song but in the way I live, work, and love others?

Prayer:
Majestic Lord, I worship you. Let my whole life reflect your glory – my words, my work, my relationships. May all I do point others to your majesty. Amen.

About this Plan

What Does It Mean to Be Human?

What does it mean to be truly human? In a world obsessed with success, appearance and achievement, it’s easy to forget that our worth is not measured by what we do, own or accomplish.
