Genesis: Chapter by ChapterSample

I’ve had people make promises to me, sincere ones—only to fall short in the end. Chances are, you’ve experienced that too. And if we’re honest, we don’t always keep our own promises perfectly either. Human faithfulness is limited, inconsistent, and often influenced by circumstance.
This is where God is entirely different. After the flood, God reveals Himself as a covenant-keeping God, making a promise of faithfulness to the earth and to all living creatures. His commitment isn’t based on human performance but on His own unchanging character.
Yet it doesn’t take long for humanity to drift again. At Babel, people unite not to honor God, but to elevate themselves, seeking independence, security, and glory apart from Him. God steps in and disrupts their plans, not out of cruelty, but out of mercy. By limiting their ability to rebel together, He restrains the spread of sin and continues guiding history toward His redemptive purposes.
Even when people chase their own glory, God remains sovereign, patient, and faithful to His promises.
Respond to God’s Word:
Where might pride or self-reliance be shaping your decisions instead of trust in God?
