I’ve found myself angry at circumstances, frustrated by events, and confused by opposition, only to realize later that many of those moments were the consequences of my own poor decisions. It’s easy to complain about what’s happening around us without recognizing how our past choices may have shaped our present reality.
In Scripture, we see both the seriousness of sin and the faithfulness of God. God brings judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah, revealing His holiness and justice, yet He also shows mercy by rescuing Lot. At the same time, Abraham and Sarah finally witness the fulfillment of God’s promise with the birth of Isaac. What once seemed impossible arrives right on time, proving that God’s timing is never late.
These chapters remind us of a powerful truth: even when consequences unfold because of past decisions, God’s faithfulness does not fail. He remains both just and gracious. His promises are never empty, and His purposes are never derailed, even when obedience is costly and painful.
