Week 4 – Day 20 (Thursday)
Psalm 27:7-9 – Keep Seeking
Matthew 18 begins with a question from Jesus’ disciples: “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" Jesus then uses a child to demonstrate greatness (vs. 1-5). While Jesus is teaching His followers to be humble and obedient like a child, let's take it a step further.
Children are masters at asking “why.” “Why can’t I?” “Why did she?” “Why won’t you?” Children are unafraid to ask because they have curious minds. Maybe there’s a lesson for us here. We serve a God who wants us to ask questions and loves us as we seek His answers.
In today’s scripture, the psalmist is being quite direct in His prayer to the Lord, “…answer me.” He pleads with the Lord not to leave him, turn His face from him, or forsake him. God is big enough to take that kind of directness. God delights in the fact that we seek Him…continually.
Keep seeking!
