DAY 40 OF 40

Week 7 – Day 40 (“Silent Saturday”)

Psalm 27:13-14

In Matthew 27:57-66, it seems that all hope is lost. Jesus' lifeless body was taken down from the cross and, through a sympathetic donation of a tomb by a secret follower of Jesus, Joseph of Arimathea, was placed in a tomb – sealed and heavily guarded.

Some Bible commentators call this Saturday “Silent Saturday,” and for all intents and purposes, it seems to be. Yet, this is when we can benefit from waiting—not giving up hope or trying to create a new plan, but simply waiting, because as we wait, the Lord works in ways we cannot see!

Today’s psalm offers essential guidance and explanation about the great reward of waiting. So, “…be strong and take courage and wait for the Lord.” The sun will rise tomorrow, and so will our Saviour!

A prayer as you wait for the morning…

Heavenly Father, use this time of waiting to cultivate spiritual growth within me. Teach me to seek You more earnestly, delve deeper into Your Word, and strengthen my prayer life. Mold my character to better reflect Christ, using moments of pause to draw me closer to You. Amen.
